So we went to our happy place today amid what’s going on in the world . My hubby and I made wings… and drinks. We enjoy try ing wing sauce recipes. Today was a good one! So I ordered from Sweet Heat a company that makes these amazing jams that have just The right bit of heat and sweet and this time it was dead on on those chicken wings. So I purchased a sweet heat mustard and a carrot cake sweet heat jam and both of them were amazing on the chicken wings. Now I know you’re thinking carrot cake what but the pineapple and the carrot made it totally awesome. We made a home sauce too, recipe will follow. We purchased fresh wings and gave them a deep fry and put them in the air fryer… I know , counter productive buttttttt. It works . Toss them in the sauce and whoa… winner winner chicken dinner. So the sauce is a bourbon brown sugar base. I use “Old Grandad”… I find it to be smooth and spicy.
1 cup ketchup , 1/2 cup bourbon,1/3 cup packed brown sugar, 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 3 tablespoons molasses, 3 tablespoons Worcester sauce, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1/3 teaspoon crushed red pepper, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/3 teaspoon onion powder and 3 tablespoons of honey.
Put all ingredients in sauce pan and simmer. Cool and toss wings .
